Authentication Engine
A technical description of the design and behavior of the authentication engine can be found in Authentication processing. In this chapter, the component is described from the configuration point of view.
The AuthEngine is configured by:
- Defining AuthStates (how to authenticate)
- Assigning AuthStates to SSO domains by specifying entry conditions (which AuthState to use for authentication)
- Access control (defining access of clients to services)

If a new runtime instance of a nevisAuth server is created, a default configuration is installed. This default template (containing common Nevis use cases) is located at /opt/nevisauth/
